UNES announces new Managing Director and CEO

The Board of University of Nairobi Enterprises and Services (UNES) Limited has announced that, Mr. Seith Abeka, has been appointed as the substantive Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer for the State Corporation in a meeting held on July 19, 2021.

The Board Chairman Eng. Kariuki Muchemi said that Mr. Abeka emerged as the best candidate after a rigorous and competitive recruitment and interview process which was conducted as per UNES and Public Service Commission guidelines.

Mr. Abeka has been at UNES as the Managing Directori in an acting position and provided effective leadership, gaining the confidence of various stakeholders. He has transformed the operations of UNES, making it efficient and effective for the benefit of the University of Nairobi as the sole shareholder.

Under the new leadership of Mr. Abeka as substantive MD, UNES can leverage on the opportunities and resources at the University of Nairobi to emerge stronger and maintain its position as the preferred pioneer business enterprise affiliated to the University.

Mr. Abeka holds a Master’s Degree in Gender and Development Studies, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Mathematics from the University of Nairobi.  Before his promotion to the position of Acting Managing Director of UNES, he was the Chief Manager in charge of Consultancy and Partnerships, a flagship project of UNES which he has successfully managed.
