On the13th of October 2022 the University of Nairobi, in collaboration with The European Union organized a program for study in Europe/ Erasmus sensitization held at Taifa hall, University of Nairobi main campus.

The University of Nairobi Students Association, UNSA President, Ms. Melvin Thogo gave a speech encouraging students and staff to participate in the Erasmus program. “I fully endorse this partnership and the appreciate the University management for organizing such platforms for us to access these opportunities.”

She thanked the University and the EU member states for sensitizing the students on the global scholarship and exchange programmes available.

The welcoming speech was presented by Mr. Brian Ouma, Chief Operating Officer representing the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama who highlighted on the key importance that the Erasmus plus program offers to the university students and the great role it can play in shaping their future.

The ambassador of the European Union in Kenya, Ms. Henriette Geiger through a pre-recorded video message enlightened students on how to explore and apply for the available programs and her deputy, Ms. Katrin Hagemann emphasized the importance of the Erasmus plus program.

This was later followed by detailed presentations from the member states of the EU available; Italy, Hungary, Campus France and Germany’s DAAD presented on the different opportunities available in their universities.

While moving a vote of thanks, The Dean of students, Mr. Johnson Ireri Kinyua appreciated the effort made by the European Union through Erasmus plus program in offering financial aid to students in order to pursue higher learning.

Students are advised to apply and benefit from this program.

The Erasmus sensitization program attracted a large crowd of students from all faculties, staff and university management.

Also in attendance was Prof. Fabio Santoni – Italian Embassy, Ms. Caroline Kithama –Hungarian Embassy, Ms. Christine Wandolo – DAAD Germany. Ms. Eva Plaziat –Campus France.
