The University of Nairobi will host Mr. Bill Gates, the  Microsoft founder and American businessman  on Thursday 17 November 2022 in a town hall student engagement forum. The forum which will take place at the Chandaria Performing Arts Centre within the UoN tower will bring together students drawn from UoN and various African Universities. The engagement will focus on climate change, innovation and food  security as well as innovative tools approaches to bolster efforts to increase food security and climate adaptation suppport across Africa. The Event will also be live streamed on the University's you tube and UNCTV channels. 

Mr. Gates will also engage on how to improve the health sector and enhance gender equality in the continent. He will also give an announcement on the commitments put in place by Bill and Melinda gates foundation to support new innovations.  Gates and other foundation leaders will also visit smallholder farmers outside of Nairobi who are using digital tools to help with climate adaptation, see how primary health care clinics have delivered care during the pandemic and helped address ongoing threats like HIV, TB, and malaria, and learn more about how leaders are charting a path forward, despite the challenging economic conditions, with investments in youth, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

The co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is also expected to announce the foundation’s forward-looking commitment to support new innovations and ingenuity aimed at improving health, food security, and gender equality in African countries.
